Maxine Medina's Poor Communication and English Skills

Maria Mika Maxine Medina is an interior designer, model, and the newly crowned Ms. Universe Philippines 2016. Medina represents the Philippines at the 65th Miss Universe pageant. Her journey has finally started. It’s going to be a steady climb from hereon after.

Maxine Medina fields a tough question after which she is crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2016. She was asked by ABS-CBN chief operating officer (COO) Cory Vidanes, "Even if her parents want to send her to school, a 15-year-old girl wants to stop her studies, what would be your advice to her?"

"I would tell the girl to study hard, no matter what their parents would tell them," Maxine answered, as she stumbled a bit at one point: "Because having an education is something that… something that… cannot have that anybody else ..." She added, "Education can make you an even better person. Thank you."

She has been criticized for allegedly having poor communication and English skills after she committed several grammatical errors during a press conference last week. They want a total package wherein they tend to compare Pia (Ms. Universe 2015) and Maxine.

On my side, it is really hard to answer even the simplest question when you already have the tension and stage fright. It is not based on the grammar it is based on the content of what you really pertain to, besides other candidates from the other countries have interpreters. I still believe that Maxine will make the Philippines proud of her. For now, let’s just pray and believe what she can do for the Philippines. Beauty Pageants is not only with the beauty and brains but rather what she can contribute to the world. She can definitely get better with proper training. Win or lose, she's still a good host delegate of the Philippines.
