Leading Federation

Federalism in the Philippines is a proposed form of government in the country. This is a campaign raised by President Rodrigo Duterte that is necessary to more efficiently cater to the needs of the country despite its diversity. The primary goals of a constitutional amendment is to increase decentralization, greater local power and access to resources most especially among regions outside Metro Manila which has long been dubbed as rather imperial. He also saw the current system as "antiquated" where distribution of public funds is disproportionately biased towards Manila. President

Duterte plans to privatize tax collection and abolish the Congress to make way for a unicameral legislature, whereby the latter is contrary to the originally proposed Joint Resolution No. 10.

I am pro federalism where economic development will be hasten. This shows upon facilitating a better delivery of services to the people. More decentralized system for the rest of the country is much superior. The shifting of government’s democratic system to federalism is one of the solutions to the problem not just in Mindanao but also nationwide. Though it is not easy to change the government system within two years, it is much appreciated by the public to divide the power between a central or national, government and several regional governments. The problems in each locality will be addressed to their specific government and will be noticed whose functioning and who needs the best assistance. Federation gives equal partition between the national government and the state. They both have their own powers as well as the shared ones. Yes, federalism can be adapted and must be implemented in our country – Philippines.
