Last February 8, 2017, the 22nd National Convention Youth of STI was held at The Monochrome Nuvali Sta. Rosa Laguna. This year’s theme of the said event states “Soaring High With 21st Century Skills.” This theme collaborates that learning is not only inside the classroom. NYC is an Educational activity wherein the first goal is to learn. In that event there were 3 speakers who gave their inspirational thoughts, experiences in life and messages to the entire students of STI Calamba, STI Tagaytay, and STI Sta. Rosa.
One of the speakers in NYC that gave so much inspiration to all of the STI Students is Arun Gogna. He is an Engineer and a motivational speaker; he is also a best-selling author that based in the Philippines. He’s topic is all about “Starter Pack”. Mr. Gogna also gave tips on “How to STAND OUT in today’s World” using the 5C’s of Starter Pack.
The first C is “Clarity”. It means that be clear of what you really want. According to him, it should start within yourself. Clarity starts with you and the universe responds to clarity. The success comes with greater uncertainty. Mr. Gogna stated “pag ikaw ay nagtatagumpay, pag ikaw ay naglalakabay sa buhay hindi ka sure kung ano ang mang-yayari mamaya. The only thing you are only sure of is what happened in the past.”
The second C of starter pack is “Competence,” work only with your competences and delegate with your weakness. He said that you need to find your strength and focus on it. COMPETENCE starts with you. It should always starts with you.
The third C of Starter Pack is “Courage.” Doing it afraid is the essence of Courage. “Kahit takot ka, gawin mo. Hindi dahil matapang ka lang kaya mo ginagawa. I will do this. Doing it afraid. That is courage.” – Arun Gogna stated. He also said that if you don’t conquer your fear you might miss out some great things in life and also courage starts with you.
The fourth C of Starter Pack is “Coaching”; you will never maximize you’re potential in any area without coaching. “Your teacher is your coach. There are so many coaches out there. All you need to do is look for them. Look for mentors and learn from them. Mentors are people who have reached your dreams” – Arun Gogna. According to him there are two categories of mentors, the first one is Personal Mentors; “taong makakausap mo, makaka-kwentuhan, taong pwede mong tanungin tungkol sa lahat ng bagay”; the second one is the Virtual Mentors “successful people na hindi niyo makikita sa kahit sino man, pero makikita niyo virtualy, napapanood sa youtube at kung saan-saan pang media tool” he added. “Wag kayong papayag na nag-aaral kayo sa classroom lang.” There are lot of virtual mentors out there, if you really want to develop your-self look for them.
The last C of starter pack is “Character”; character is the build to do what is right even if it is hard. One of the most important characters nowadays is Integrity. Integrity is when your “public-self” is consistent with your “private-self”. You have to be a person with integrity. Success starts with your-self. If you want to be successful, you need to have a good character. Success starts with you, but it should never be about you.
Mr. Aron Gogna is really an incredible speaker. He inspires all the students and he gave motivation to live and be successful in life together with the people around you. He has a sense of humor but he has the gift of sharing God’s words. The last statement he said was; “When I’m sleeping, God is solving my problems.”
